Brand design for rice and rice bags

Shoppers choose a bag of rice in a few seconds at the shelf.

Good rice is still easily taken for just another bag of rice. Sinh Vũ gives it a name, a growing region and a bag that is recognizable at a glance, so shoppers buy your rice and not the one beside it.

Quick answer01

What does a rice brand need?

Three things first: a name tied to the region and the variety, a bag that reads at once on the shelf, and proof of origin in the right place. Together they let shoppers pick your rice without having to ask.

  1. A name tied to region and variety

State the real rice variety, growing region and season, because that is what loose rice doesn't have.

  2. A bag that reads on the shelf

Rice name, variety and weight readable from arm's length, not blending into the bag beside it.

  3. Proof of origin

The traceability label and certification (if any) sit at eye level, not lost in a corner of the bag.

Business types02

Three kinds of rice, three problems

All of it is rice, but the shoppers differ, so what the brand has to say differs too.

Specialty fragrant rice

Their customersCity shoppers who choose rice by variety and aroma, buying for the family or as a gift.

Brand challengeShow the real variety, region and season, so fragrant rice isn't taken for ordinary rice in a nice bag.

Organic rice

Their customersHealth-conscious families who read labels and ask about origin.

Brand challengeShow the certification and the growing method, and add storage guidance, since this kind of rice usually needs more careful keeping.

Bagged export rice

Their customersImporters, Vietnamese grocery stores abroad, and Vietnamese living far from home.

Brand challengeA bag and brand that read in the destination market, so the rice travels under your name and not the importer's.

Pain points03

Four pain points specific to rice

These are the places where good rice still loses customers and grain quality can't save it.

03

Rice is blended and copied, and shoppers can't tell

Shoppers buy rice carrying a region's name but receive something else, and from then on doubt even the real thing.

Give the bag a mark that is hard to copy, a traceability label at eye level, and a simple way to check.

Customer journey04

At which stage does rice lose the most customers?

At the See stage. In front of a rice shelf, shoppers decide in a few seconds by looking at the bag. If the bag blends into the one beside it, they pick the one they already know.

Where customers are most often lostSee
Do this now
  1. Put the rice name and variety largest on the front, with the growing region right below.
  2. Use one color and one mark of your own, different from the colors that fill the rice shelf.
  3. Set the bag next to three bags of similar rice before printing a large run.
Touchpoints05

Five touchpoints to do first

Touchpoints are the places where shoppers look at, touch or read about your rice. You don't need to do everything at once. These five touchpoints decide most of the impression.

  1. Rice bag

It is the first thing shoppers pick up and read.

  2. Traceability label

Where shoppers check that the rice matches what you say.

  3. Tet gift rice box

The giver needs a box that explains by itself why it is worth giving.

  4. Sales page

Online shoppers have only photos and words to trust.

  5. Photos of the fields and the growers

Real images of the growing region give the rice name weight.

Roadmap06

Where Sinh Vũ suggests starting

In the order to do them. A small farm can stop at step two or three; a larger brand goes all the way.

  1. Brand strategy and positioning consulting

Find what is distinct about your region, variety and method, so you hold a place different from the bag beside you.

  2. Logo and Brand Identity Design

Name, mark, colors and type: the base for everything that follows.

  3. Product packaging design

Rice bag, gift box and traceability label, built on the position you chose.

  4. Product and brand photography

Photos of the fields, the growers and the grain you can use all year.

  5. Brand website design

The sales page and the landing page for the traceability label.

FAQ09

Frequently asked questions

Grains, ears of rice and fields have become too familiar. Sinh Vũ looks for a distinct detail from the region, the variety or the grower, and tests the logo at avatar size before settling.

Rice name, variety and growing region at the top, with weight and packing date clearly readable. The rest goes below, in the order shoppers need to read it.

Many places mention the same variety name, so the variety alone isn't enough for shoppers to remember your rice. Add a name and mark of your own, and let the variety name sit in the explanation.

The box needs to be easy to hold, state the region and variety, and include a short card about where the rice is grown. The recipient should open it and understand this is a gift, not just a bag of rice in a box.

State only what is properly certified, and put the certification mark where it is easy to see. Add the packing date and storage advice, since organic rice usually spoils faster than ordinary rice.

Tell Sinh Vũ about your rice

A few lines about the product, the growing region and what is holding you back are enough. Sinh Vũ reads it and replies within one working day.
