CMYK and Pantone: fundamentally different

  • Look at the Pantone color on the screen and finalize without comparing it to a real paper color fan. Screens display in RGB (red, green, blue), which does not accurately reflect the printed ink color.
  • Forget to distinguish between coated (C, coated paper) and uncoated (U, uncoated paper). The same Pantone code but two paper bases yield distinctly different results.
  • Choosing multiple Pantone colors for a small print run thinking it will look better, without considering the cumulative setup costs.
