Not every technique can be logically combined. Here are some common pairs and the reasons they work well together:

You should stop when: Budgets or time are tight, the brand is committed to recycling and sustainability, or you have not yet chosen a primary highlight and are considering using multiple techniques to compensate for design shortcomings. Multiple finishes will not save a design that lacks clarity.
Requirements for file technicalities to know in advance
Combining multiple techniques requires more careful file preparation than standard print files. If this step is overlooked, the workshop will either ask for clarification or produce incorrectly without prior notice.
Each finishing technique must be a separate vector layer in the file, not mixed with the color print layer.
Each layer assigns a spot color (a special color for the printer to identify) and sets the overprint attribute correctly to avoid errors during RIP (file processing before printing).
The tolerance for die alignment (the acceptable deviation when assembling the die into the machine) is typically around 0.5 to 1 mm. Therefore, avoid designing so that the foil or spot UV must tightly adhere to the edges of small text: even slight misalignment will be immediately visible.
The order of execution is important; it needs to be confirmed with the workshop before finalizing the file: which layer is printed first, which layer is coated later, to avoid the latter layer damaging the former.
