Why test

Vietnamese breaks at the accents first

Sinh Vũ doctrine, article 9.06: test a typeface with Vietnamese text carrying stacked and below-line accents, not with an English sample sentence.

  • Missing characters mean mixed fonts

If a font lacks ơ, ư or accented letters, the computer substitutes another font. One letter in a word jumps to a different style and looks like a printing error.

  • Stacked accents get clipped

Capitals with two marks, such as Ấ and Ổ, rise above the font's line box. Word on Windows clips the excess; slides and web pages sometimes overlap the line above.

  • Free fonts are not always usable

Many fonts allow personal use but forbid brand use or embedding in files. Using them without the right sooner or later means replacing everything.

Questions

What people often ask

Three questions Sinh Vũ often gets about this tool.

Is my font file sent anywhere?

No. The file is read in your browser and is not uploaded to any server.

Why can't it read WOFF2 files?

WOFF2 is a compressed format made for the web. Use the original TTF or OTF from the font vendor, or a WOFF file.

Does the rights result replace the license?

No. The tool only reads the declaration inside the file. The real rights are in the license you received when buying or downloading the font; read the terms for brand, print and web use carefully.
