Signage and wayfinding

First-time visitors find their own way

Hospitals, schools, office towers, shopping centres and factories all need signs that let a first-time visitor find their way alone. Sinh Vũ designs the storefront sign and every sign inside: direction signs, floor signs, room signs. All of them share one list of names, so a visitor hears the same name on the sign, on the paperwork and from the staff.

How Sinh Vũ works

Five steps, clear at every turn

Pick a step to see what Sinh Vũ does, what you decide and what you receive.

Step 01 · Discovery and alignment

Map the flow on the floor plan

Sinh Vũ does
Read the floor plan with the architecture team, map the route of each visitor group, and mark the points where people have to choose which way to turn.
You decide
Approve the flow diagram.Within 3 working days.
You receive
A flow diagram on the floor plan, showing exactly where visitors need a sign so they do not have to ask.

Step 02 · Strategy and direction

Zone names and colour codes

Sinh Vũ does
Divide the site into zones, set a consistent name for each zone and room, and assign a colour to each zone. Names on signs must match names on documents, the website and screens.
You decide
Approve the naming and colour code table.Within 3 working days.
You receive
A table of names and colour codes for every zone and room, shared across the whole site.

Step 03 · Design

Sign templates

Sinh Vũ does
Design a set of sign templates (directional, room and floor signs) and the facade signage, testing type sizes against reading distance.
You decide
Approve the sign templates.Within 5 working days.
You receive
The sign templates and facade signage, with type sizes tested against real viewing distances.

Step 04 · System and usage rules

Lay out the full sign system

Sinh Vũ does
Lay out signs for every location on the diagram and compile a table of locations, quantities, sizes and proposed materials.
You decide
Approve the sign location table.Within 5 working days.
You receive
A table covering every sign: where it goes, how many, what size, and what it is made of.

Step 05 · Rollout

Production files

Sinh Vũ does
Export production files for the fabricator. In the tier with sample sign-off, the first sign is approved at the workshop before mass production.
You decide
Accept the production files.Within 3 working days.
You receive
Production files at true scale, ready for the fabricator to use right away.

Every room already has a sign, so why do visitors still ask for directions?

Visitors rarely get lost because the signs are ugly. Usually the names do not match: the sign says one thing, the paperwork another, and the staff use a third. Or the sign hangs where nobody looks, while the turning that needs one most is bare. So Sinh Vũ does not start by drawing signs. Sinh Vũ follows the visitor's route on the floor plan, the top-down drawing of each storey. At every point where people must choose which way to turn, Sinh Vũ marks the need for a sign. Then Sinh Vũ settles one list of names for the whole site to share. Only with those two in place is the first sign designed.

A good sign means a first-time visitor never has to ask.
One continuous flow

Signs that are ready to build

Wayfinding is the full set of signs that lets visitors find their own way around a site. It needs the brand identity (logo, colours, typeface) in place first, and it has to run alongside the architects, because a sign fixed to a finished wall or ceiling means drilling it open again.

Part 1

Routes and names

Read the floor plan with the architects, trace the route of each group of people, then give every zone and room one agreed name and give each zone a colour.

Part 2

Sample signs and storefront

Design a sample of each sign type and the storefront sign, testing letter size against the real distance people read from.

Part 3

Full system and production files

Place signs at every point on the plan, list position, quantity, size and material, then export files for the sign maker.

Timing

Add the two figures together for the real time from kickoff to handover. Your part follows the approval window of each step, so approving early shortens the schedule.

Before we start

What you need to prepare

  • The latest floor plan for each level.
  • Contacts for the architecture firm and the signage fabricator.
  • A list of zones, rooms, departments and operating hours.
  • The interior fit-out schedule, so we can set the deadline for production files.

Having these ready keeps the project on schedule. If something is missing, Sinh Vũ can still start, and the handover date moves back accordingly.

Sign-off standard

Know in advance what passes

The four points below are the sign-off yardstick, agreed at the start. The most important one: a first-time visitor reaches the room they need on their own.

A stranger finds the room

A first-time visitor walks from the gate to any room using only the signs, in a test run on the plan or on site.

One test walk

Names match word for word

Zone and room names on the signs match the site's paperwork, website and screens word for word.

Checked against the list

Readable from a distance

Text on each sign type reads from the agreed distance. Every zone carries letters or numbers alongside its colour, so people who struggle with colour can still read it.

Letter size tested

Schedule matches the drawings

The sign placement schedule matches the final floor plan, so the sign maker never has to re-measure.

Frequently asked questions

Before you send a request for signage

No. Sinh Vũ designs the signs and hands over production files with a schedule of position, quantity, size and suggested material. Your sign maker produces and installs them. In the tier with sample sign-off, Sinh Vũ visits the workshop to check the first sign for colour and lettering before the full run.

Once the floor plan has its functions fixed, and before interior finishing starts. A sign fixed to a finished wall or ceiling means drilling it open again, and wiring for lit signs needs planning early. A site already in operation can still redo its signs: Sinh Vũ walks the site instead of reading drawings.

Sample signs need the brand identity (logo, colours, typeface) first, because signage is where the identity appears largest and for longest. If it is not ready, Sinh Vũ suggests doing the identity first or in parallel: the route map and list of names can start straight away.

Fire safety and emergency exit signs follow the building's approved fire safety file, and the fire safety designer is responsible for them. Sinh Vũ only aligns their style so they sit next to the wayfinding signs and still look like one set.

If the plan changes after the full system is laid out, Sinh Vũ redoes only the changed part of the placement schedule, not the whole system. That is why zone functions should be fixed before that step, while the route map and sample signs can start early.

They can, if colour is the only way to tell zones apart. That is why every zone always carries letters or numbers alongside its colour. Colour helps people remember quickly, and letters and numbers make sure everyone can read it.

Usually 4 to 11 weeks depending on the tier and number of floors, including your approval rounds. Sinh Vũ sets the exact dates around the interior works schedule, so production files are ready before walls and ceilings are finished.

There is no single price, because every site differs in floors, zones, rooms and sign types. The design fee is based on that scope and excludes making and installing the signs. Sinh Vũ reviews the floor plan first and then quotes one fixed package. Our pricing principles are public on the Pricing page.
